Built by Hand.
Built to Last.
Every wallet that leaves our Mansfield, Texas workshop is cut, sewn, and finished by a team of artisans — one piece of full-grain leather at a time. No assembly line. No outsourcing. No B.S.
One standard.
A team behind it.
I'm Ernie. I started Bull Sheath in 2017 because I believed a wallet should outlive the person who carries it — not end up in a landfill two years later.
What started at one bench in Mansfield, Texas has grown into a team of artisans who share that same obsession. Every wallet is still cut, sewn by hand on our leather sewing machines, and finished right here in our workshop. No shortcuts. No third-party production.
If something's wrong with it, you're talking to us — not a call center. That's the whole pitch.
The workshop in six frames.
Smell of oil and tannin. A radio playing somewhere in the corner. This is where every Bull Sheath wallet starts — and where it stays until it's ready.
Four steps. No shortcuts.
Every wallet moves through the same four stages, in the same order, on the same bench. It takes longer this way. That's the point.
Select the hide
Horween Dublin leather — full-grain, vegetable tanned in Chicago. Every side gets inspected for grain, color, and temper before it touches the bench.
Cut by hand
Depending on the piece, we trace templates, press clicker dies, or run our laser — sometimes all three in one batch. Every method is hands-on. Precision is the point, not the process.
Sewn by hand
Our artisans sew every wallet by hand on professional leather sewing machines — guiding each seam with the kind of control no automated line can replicate. Tight, even, built to last.
Burnish & ship
Edges sanded, waxed, and slicked smooth by hand. Then it gets stamped and inspected. If it doesn't pass my own bench test, you'll never see it.
The cheap stuff lies. Full-grain doesn't.
WHAT IT IS
The top layer of the hide, untouched. Pores, scars, and all. It's the strongest, densest part — and the only kind worth stitching.
It develops a patina. It softens. It records the shape of your pocket. A full-grain wallet at five years looks better than the day you bought it.
WHAT IT ISN'T
"Genuine leather" is the lowest grade that still gets to call itself leather. It's split, sanded, and embossed with a fake grain. It cracks in two years.
"Bonded leather" isn't leather at all — it's leather dust glued onto fabric. Don't buy it. We won't make it.
